The concept behind these digital mixed media pieces was a deconstruction to reconstruction, taking something old and making it entirely new. I wanted to incorporate many different architectural designs and elements from source images to create a new architectural form. To make the piece more three-dimensional, I used various editing techniques to enhance each component of the piece by adding texture and layering.
To further the obscurity and complexity, I added different numbers and words in all the forms and styles we see daily, from alphabet blocks, book pages, the periodic table, etc. In terms of the colors, I used muted tones to allow the different shapes to speak for themselves while also creating harmony. I want the viewer from afar to see its cohesive quality, but from up close, notice the multiple layers of each piece.
